Sky adds Discovery+ to their TV packages

by | 31 Jan 2023 | News, TV

Sky TV subscribers can now watch Discovery+ for free! Discovery+, the new streaming service from the Discovery Channel, has partnered with Sky to bring their service to Sky’s nearly 8.5 million customers. The service joins Netflix and Sky Go as streaming options available to Sky customers at no extra charge.

This growing library of on-demand content means that, even as more people move to streaming only, a Sky package remains one of the best options for home entertainment.

What is Discovery+?

Discovery+ is a new US streaming service filled with content from the Discovery Channel and its networks. That means you have access to more than 70,000 episodes of over 2000 shows from channels like TLC, HGTV, the Food Network and Animal Planet.

What can I watch on Discovery+?

Discovery+ has a huge amount of content, both from their existing popular channels we mentioned above and original series exclusive to the platform. Some of the most popular shows ripe for binging include Chopped, Planet Earth, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

As you can probably tell, the platform focuses on factual TV, with hundreds of documentaries, reality series and game shows rounding out the roster.

What else is included with Sky TV?

Sky TV and Netflix‘ is Sky’s entry-point TV package, but don’t let that fool you – there’s still an incredible number of channels included. Subscribers receive Sky’s entertainment TV channels. This includes more than 100 channels not included with Freeview, and 18 dedicated Sky Channels including Sky Atlantic, the UK home of HBO series.

Then there are the streaming services. As you might guess from the name, ‘Sky TV and Netflix’ includes a Netflix subscription. There’s no need to set up a new account, you just keep using your Netflix service as usual, paying for it in your monthly Sky bill. As well as Netflix, and the Discovery+ subscription you’ll now receive, you also get Sky Go, Sky’s own streaming service. Sky Go has more than 10,000 hours of original and fan-favourite box sets ready to be enjoyed at the touch of a button.

Did you know? Sky subscribers get access to Netflix and Discovery+, saving £13.98 every month
